Gewelddadige confrontaties tussen demonstrerende Amazone-indianen en de politie in het noorden van Peru hebben tientallen mensen het leven gekost. Dat meldt de Volkskrant.

De politie greep in toen oorspronkelijke bewoners van de Amazone protesteerden tegen de exploitatie van het regenwoud door buitenlandse concerns, die daar olie en mineralen willen winnen.

Veel vervuiling oceaan ontdekt bij zoektocht wrak Air France
Bij de zoektocht naar het verdwenen Franse vliegtuig wordt een heleboel vervuiling in zee aangetroffen. De oceanen zijn vergeven van koelkasten, verlaten jachten en een enorme hoeveelheid plastic, zo bericht de Amerikaanse nieuwszender CNN.
