De UNESCO meldt: “Buddhist temples on the mountain were built between the 1st century AD and the early 20th century. Overall, the buildings on the site present a catalogue of the way Buddhist architecture developed and influenced palace building in China over more than a millennium”

Het Chinese persbureau Xinhua bericht uit de provinciehoofdstad Taiyuan: “A sacred mountain in China that has been witness to centuries of Buddhist history was added Friday (Beijing Time) to UNESCO's World Heritage List during the 33rd session of the World Heritage Committee in Seville, Spain.”

Uranium Deforms Pakistan Children (By Priya Yadav)
Big heads, bulging eyes, twisted hands that don't reach their mouths and bent legs that can barely support their frail frames. South African toxicologist Dr Carin Smit had their hair samples sent to a German laboratory. The results, which have just come in, are shocking: the deformities were caused by alarmingly high levels of uranium.

Gaza en Israel

Changing the rules of war (George Bisharat; Wednesday, April 1, 2009)

The extent of Israel's brutality against Palestinian civilians in its 22-day pounding of the Gaza Strip is gradually surfacing. Israeli soldiers are testifying to lax rules of engagement tantamount to a license to kill. One soldier commented.

George Bisharat reports: "That's what is so nice, supposedly, about Gaza: You see a person on a road, walking along a path. He doesn't have to be with a weapon, you don't have to identify him with anything and you can just shoot him."
